Wie tied for second in Mexico

Honolulu's Michelle Wie shot a sizzling 6-under 66 yesterday at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, to tie for second with Paula Creamer (69) with a two-day total of 8-under 136.

Wie trails second-round leader and fellow LPGA Tour rookie Jiyai Shin (66) by three shots entering the weekend of this star-studded 36-woman event.

The Punahou School graduate carded an eagle at the par-5 10th and had five birdies. Her only two bogeys of the tournament occurred at the par-3 17th Thursday and yesterday. Wie has hit 19 fairways and 31 greens in regulation. She is averaging 281 yards off the tee and has sunk 61 putts.
