Blaine Ashley to relaunch site

In celebration of the first anniversary of www.ShopBlaineAshley.com, stylist Blaine Ashley will unveil a makeover of the site Tuesday, coinciding with the relaunch of www.BlaineAshley.com.

Visitors will be able to see new holiday collections and the premiere of the new Blaine Ashley private label that will feature mini monthly collections for those moments you need something new or transitional between seasons.

'Diva Days' offers store discounts

Divas Doing Good introduces “;Diva Days,”; a weekend of guilt-free shopping during which participants can give back to the community while shopping early for holiday gifts. Purchase a $10 shopping pass available at the Wedding Cafe at Ward Warehouse and get an all-access 20 percent discount at some of Hawaii's top boutiques and Web sites tomorrow through Sunday.

Participating vendors include Bamboo Sky, the Butik, Valerie Joseph, Fashionistas Market, Cupcake Boutique, Second Skin, Alliway, Jessica's Traveling Boutique at Wedding Cafe from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Adore, Split Obsession, Cloth Hawaii and 10 other boutiques and Web sites.

Pet Film Fest at Blaisdell

You can't be stylish and allow your pet to run around naked. With that in mind, pick up style ideas during the inaugural Hawaii Pet Film Festival and Holiday Gift Show at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free and pets (on a leash or in a stroller) are welcome.

Walk a red carpet and stop for a photo op with on-site “;pupparrazi”; before enjoying 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. fashion shows featuring the latest pet couture from Hawaiian Moon, Cocojor, Fauna Collection and Zhan Vi Designs.

Pets and owners are also invited to enter a film-inspired pet costume contest at the event with such categories as best film character, best ensemble cast and best human-pet duo. Register until 11:15 a.m.

Highlighting the event will be an award show during which judges will choose the best local pet videos and photo essays in multiple categories. The best videos will be awarded cash, prizes and bragging rights.

Throughout the day, shop for holiday items from local pet vendors and crafters, or visit the Hawaiian Humane Society's Santa Paws.

Show organizers will be also be accepting pet food and toy donations for local animal shelters at the event.

Limited-run shirts at Island Snow

Island Snow in Kailua has introduced a limited-edition line of T-shirts by Rae and Zakkamono.

The one-of-a-kind shirts are available in black and asphalt, each hand-painted and bearing embroidered images of the Zakkamono logo or characters Miao and Mousubi, lotuses or skulls. Shirts are also embellished with vintage buttons, Swarovski crystals and threads. Each has the IS/HI logo and retails for $45.

Nordstrom hosts beauty experts

If you didn't pick up tickets for Nordstrom's morning Cosmetic Trend Event or don't want to lose a minute of beauty sleep, don't worry. You can still catch up with visiting makeup artists and beauty experts on the store's cosmetics floor.

Smashbox makeup artist Hank Hoffman will be there from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday with the brand's lead makeup artist, Lori Taylor, and dermatologist and skin-care specialist Dr. Zein Obagi.

Hoffman will be introducing Smashbox's WISH holiday collection, with $1 from each collection purchase donated to the Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit that provides medical care to children.

Obagi, whose Obagi Medical line is used by dermatologists, launched his ZO Skin Health consumer brand last year and will speak about the latest innovations in skin care at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Beverly Hills-based dermatologist will also offer free skin-care consultations throughout the day.

You can also catch up with your favorite brands, including the latest products from Bobbi Brown, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and Laura Mercier during a “;Face to Face”; event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday.

For those who live on the Leeward side, Smashbox's Taylor will also be at Sephora, Pearlridge, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow to show the WISH holiday collection.

Bonsai as living art showcased

Bonsai works as lovely home accents or can be used to enhance any special-event hall. Local artist Kahi Ching cultivates them as living art and has been offering some of his plants for rent as decor, which make great conversation topics.

Ching has been cultivating this art form since he was 6 and will be exhibiting new bonsai trees from his collection during “;The Art of Bonsai”; at Kahi Gallery. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 20 to 22 and 27 to 29, with an artist's reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 20 and 27.

Children's art exhibit at DWR

Design Within Reach will be hosting a Children's Art Preview from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the DWR at Ala Moana Center. The reception kicks off its two-week exhibit of children's artwork in conjunction with the Honolulu Academy of Arts' Ambassador Outreach Program, which brings art into Hawaii public schools.

The event is a joint effort with the Friends of Hawaii Charities. Refreshments will be served. Call 941-2112.
