Ala Moana man arrested for assualt

Police arrested a 26-year-old Ala Moana man who allegedly assaulted his 53-year-old neighbor at 1:15 a.m. today.

The man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

Police said the younger man allegedly assaulted the older man in front of his Atkinson Drive apartment. When the victim tried to close his door, the suspect allegedly pushed his way into the apartment and continued the assault.

A neighbor said he heard a loud argument between the two men just before the assault.

Paramedics transported the victim to the hospital and he was admitted for treatment of his injuries, police said.

Responding patrol officers later found the suspect a block away. He was identified by a witness and arrested.

16-year-old stabbed in Kalihi

Police are looking for a man in his 20s who allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old boy at a Kalihi park last night.

Police said the boy had been drinking earlier and was walking through the park with friends. He then reportedly bumped into the man as he entered the restroom, which led to a verbal confrontation, police said.

The man allegedly stabbed the boy with a knife and fled.

The boy was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.

No arrests were made.

Body of man found on Kauai's Loop Road

Kauai police are seeking information about the death of a man whose body was found yesterday morning in a car in Wailua.

Police said the body, found at 7:33 a.m. yesterday in a car on Loop Road, has apparent injuries. Police will not release his identity until his next of kin can be notified.

The case has been classified as an unattended death. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective James Kurasaki at 246-8101, police dispatch at 241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 241-1887.

4 laptops are stolen from Kau High School

Big Island police are investigating a burglary at Kau High School involving four laptop computers.

Police said someone broke into a classroom between 4:15 p.m. Thursday and 6:15 a.m. Monday and stole four white Apple MacBook computers valued at $3,600. Visitor is injured in kite crash-landing

A 27-year-old mainland visitor was hurt yesterday afternoon when he crash-landed the speed-wing kite he was flying in Makapuu.

Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the man was flying with a group when the accident occurred. He said they launched from a takeoff area known as the Cactus launch site.

The man crashed and landed 300 to 400 feet below on the cliffside above Kalanianaole Highway, located above Makapuu Beach.

He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Seelig said. A fire rescue specialist rappelled to the man and treated him. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Man, 25, arrested in sex with teen girl

Police arrested a 25-year-old man Sunday on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault after having sex with a 14-year-old girl in Aiea.

Police said the girl's grandmother reported her having sex with her boyfriend, 25, between 7:50 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.
