Rainbow Wahine remain at No. 3

The Hawaii volleyball team leaves tonight for its final regular-season road trip, riding a 19-match win streak and the same national ranking as the past four weeks: No. 3.

The Rainbow Wahine (23-2, 13-0 Western Athletic Conference) remained behind Penn State and Texas in yesterday's AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25.

The Nittany Lions (26-0) received all 60 first-place votes and are followed by the Longhorns (19-1), who lost their first match last week to Iowa State.

Hawaii finishes the regular season with three matches on the mainland—at Boise State on Thursday, Idaho on Saturday and Utah State on Monday.

» The first two days of this month's WAC volleyball tournament will be streamed live on WAC.tv.

The tournament will be held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nov. 23-25. The top six teams earn berths, with the top two seeds earning a first-round bye into the semifinals; Hawaii has already clinched a bye.

The matches on Nov. 23 and 24 are scheduled for 3 and 5:30 p.m. The cost is $9.95 per day.

The WAC championship match on Nov. 25 will be shown live on ESPNU at 4:30 p.m.

UH volleyball men to visit maui

The Hawaii men's volleyball team will host Brigham Young in a conference match at War Memorial Gym on Maui.

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the 2,900-seat gym. The Warriors and Cougars play the previous night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Ticket prices for the Maui match are $8 (adults) and $3 (UH system students with valid ID and students ages 4 to high school). All tickets are general admission and will be available starting today at the Sheriff Center box office, by calling 944-2697 and online at HawaiiAthletics.com.

Season-ticket renewals will be mailed out within the next week. New season-ticket sales begin Dec. 14.

PACWEST PLACE

Vulcans 16th in D-II poll

Hawaii-Hilo moved up a spot to No. 16 in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25.

The Vulcans (25-1, 15-1 PacWest) concluded the regular season with nine consecutive wins and a second PacWest title in three years. UHH has an automatic berth in the D-II championship tournament and learns Sunday which regional it competes in.
