All-day UH-Manoa festival celebrates Japanese culture

Celebrate Nippon Culture Day on Thursday at the Imin Center of the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.

Besides live Okinawan music and door prizes, there will be workshops on traditional games, gift wrapping, calligraphy, kumihimo (art of braiding), abacus use, tea ceremony, musubi making and origami.

Information will also be available on UHM's Study Abroad Center, the Hakubundo bookstore and the Consulate-General of Japan.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is free. Call 956-2082.
