Officials of the financially troubled Honolulu Symphony canceled a scheduled meeting yesterday with the city Department of Enterprise Services, which manages the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
The meeting was set up more than a week ago after the symphony postponed a pair of concerts scheduled for this weekend.
“;My understanding is that the symphony is working on public statements to address its financial circumstances,”; said department Director Sidney Quintal, who said he had called for the meeting.
The symphony's fall season is scheduled to continue with three pairs of concerts during the last three weekends of November.
Rumors that the sym- phony will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy have circulated since the symphony board of directors held a special meeting Friday.
Board Chairman Peter Shaindlin, also chief operating officer of Halekulani Corp., was involved in hotel business meetings yesterday and not available for comment.
He said Monday that symphony officials are “;meeting to get ourselves organized”; and expect to make an announcement later this week.
