AKC dog show this weekend
The Hawaiian Terrier Association is having its AKC dog show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Thomas Square. Admission is free.
ARTafterDARK goes black Friday
Get into the holiday groove with “;All Hallows Eve,”; the final ARTafterDARK event for 2009 at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Attendees can enjoy the talents of DJ Benzi, who comes to us straight from Ann Arbor, Mich., in the museum's Central Court, while hometown favorites DJ Eskae and DJ Compose of Nocturnal Sound Krew head up the Luce Pavilion.
Town and Downtown will provide drinks and food. There will be a tapas bar at Luce Pavilion and a gazpacho bar in the Kinau Courtyard. The signature cocktail of the evening: Bloody Mary, of course.
In anticipation of large and fancy costumes, all art galleries will be closed. Cost is $10; call 532-8700.
2 PBS art series released on DVD
The fifth season of the Peabody Award-winning “;Art:21”; documentary series on PBS is scheduled to be released on DVD on Tuesday, along with “;Craft in America,”; Season 2, also a Peabody winner.
“;Art:21,”; Season 5, documenting contemporary artists of the 21st century, features profiles on such artists as William Kentridge, Jeff Koons, Cao Fei, Yinka Shonibare, Kimsooja and Paul McCarthy. Cost is $29.99 on DVD and $34.99 on Blu-ray.
“;Craft in America”; features potter Mark Hewitt, bead worker Teri Greeves, fine-art lithographer Tom Killion and book artist Julie Chen. Cost is $24.99.

Classes
Consider a class in printmaking using ultraviolet light when Constance Falconer teaches Printmaking in the Sun, Nov. 8 and 15 at the Academy Art Center, organized by the Honolulu Printmakers.
The simple technique transforms original drawings, photocopies, digital images and photographs into high-quality, finished prints. The workshop is for all levels.
Participants should bring two to three 5-by-7-inch transparencies of drawings, paintings or photographs. Classes run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fee is $120, plus a materials fee of $35. Call 536-5507.
