Suspect wanted in fatal shooting

  Maui police are looking for a 39-year-old man, described as armed and dangerous, who is suspected of fatally shooting a Kaupo man Sunday.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding Robert James Chiarizia and released pictures of him with both a trimmed and bushy beard and mustache.

Police said Chiarizia is a suspect in the killing of Alan Vegas in Kaupo.

Vegas died from a single gunshot wound, police said. Vegas was taken by helicopter from Kaupo to Maui Memorial Medical Center where he died.

Chiarizia is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair with dreadlocks and blue eyes.

Anyone who sees Chiarizia is asked to call police at 244-6401 (Wailuku station), 248-8670 (Hana station) or the Criminal Investigation Division at 244-6449.
