Public asked to help find Maili man, 76
The family of a missing 76-year-old Maili man is asking for the public's help in finding him.
William Robert Kawaiea was last seen catching a bus around 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Tuesday in Maili near his Liopolo Street home across from Maili Beach Park.
Niece Clarinda Manini said that Kawaiea needs medication for hypertension, diabetes and a heart condition. She said her uncle has always come home since he has lived with her for the last 25 years, and always calls if he is late. “;That's why I know something's wrong,”; she said.
Kawaiea often takes the bus to Windward Oahu or swims at Turtle Bay, Manini said. He is described as between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, with grayish white hair and balding. He wears glasses and a backpack and uses a cane.
He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, khaki shorts and rubber slippers. Anyone with information concerning Kawaiea is asked to call 911 and ask for police.

The man had been eating his dinner and consuming alcoholic beverages at Kobe Japanese Steak House and could not pay the $155 check.
Police arrested the man, who has 10 prior third-degree theft convictions within the past two years, on suspicion of third-degree theft and habitual property crime.
Inmate indicted in prison death
An Oahu grand jury indicted a 22-year-old state prison inmate on a charge of manslaughter in connection with last week's death of a fellow inmate at Halawa Correctional Facility.
The indictment, returned yesterday, alleges James Lawrence Gouveia caused the death of 46-year-old Monte Louis Young on Oct. 14.
Gouveia punched Young several times in the jaw after the two got into an argument in the prison yard, said Vickie Kapp, deputy prosecutor. Young fell backward and hit his head on the ground, she said.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner says Young died of head injuries due to blunt force trauma.
Young was serving a life prison term for fatally beating a man with a hammer at a Burger King restaurant near the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1997.
Gouveia is serving a five-year prison term for auto theft.
