Shigezawa wins at Turtle Bay

Bradley Shigezawa shot a 3-under 69 on the Fazio course yesterday to win the Turtle Bay Amateur golf tournament.

Shigezawa, a senior at Punahou, has orally committed to Northwestern to play golf.

He won by one shot over T.J. Kua.

» Hawaii placed 15th out of 15 teams at the Stanford Intercollegiate golf tournament yesterday.

Corie Hou was UH's top finisher. She tied for 63rd after rounds of 82, 74 and 75 for a 231 total.

Arizona State won the event, and Jennifer Song of USC was the medalist at 205.

 

NMSU defeats UH in WAC soccer

Jazmin Cardoso scored on a penalty kick after a foul in the 100th minute to give New Mexico State a 2-1 overtime victory over Hawaii in women's soccer yesterday at Las Cruces, N.M.

Ambree Ako scored the lone goal for the Rainbow Wahine (5-9-1, 1-3 Western Athletic Conference) in the 85th minute for a 1-1 tie.

The Aggies improved to 9-5-1 and 4-0-1.

BYUH's Faka'osi is player of week

Brigham Young-Hawaii sophomore Losaline Faka'osi was picked as the PacWest volleyball player of the week, the league announced yesterday.

Faka'osi led the Seasiders to a 3-0 record last week, averaging 4.21 points per game with 46 kills, three aces and three block assists.
