Police seek trio of burglary suspects

Police are asking for help in identifying three male suspects involved Sunday in burglaries at three Waipio stores.

The stores at 94-1221 Ka Uka Blvd. were broken into at about 11:30 p.m.

Surveillance cameras showed the males entered one of the stores and removed various items, including a safe containing cash.

One suspect was wearing a white baseball cap, a white long-sleeve shirt and camouflage pants. A second wore a camouflage hat, a white long-sleeve shirt and black shorts; and a third, a baseball cap and white T-shirt. All three carried backpacks.

Man arrested in assault on boy, 10

Police arrested a 66-year-old man on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault of a 10-year-old boy at a Kalihi elementary school.

Police said the boy reported the sexual assaults to school officials, who notified police.

The offense of third-degree sexual assault usually implies fondling.

Police would not provide the name of the school or whether the suspect was an employee of the school.

Visitor is accused of striking woman

Hawaii island police arrested a 56-year-old Arizona man yesterday who allegedly knocked down a woman after telling her he was going to rob her along Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona.

The 18-year-old woman reported that she was walking by a rock wall at Hale o Kane Park at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday when a man began speaking to her, followed her and told her he was going to rob her. As the woman tried to run away, the man knocked her down and she screamed, police said.

The screams attracted passers-by, and the suspect fled without taking anything.

The woman was not injured.

Police investigation led to the arrest of the Tucson, Ariz., man at Kona Airport, where he was waiting to catch a flight to the mainland.
