Two Hawaii-based brigadier Army generals have been nominated to get their second stars.

They are Brig. Gen. Robert B. Brown, deputy commanding general for the 25th Infantry Division, who is in Iraq serving as deputy commanding general (support) for Multinational Division North, and Brig. Gen. Michael J. Terry, who now commands both the 8th Theater Sustainment Command and U.S. Army Hawaii at Fort Shafter.

Brown graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the infantry in 1981. He has held several assignments in Hawaii, beginning in 1992 at Fort Shafter as a plans officer, followed by assignments with the 25th Infantry Division and deployment to Haiti with the division in 1994. Brown commanded the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Lewis, Wash.

Terry came to Fort Shafter this summer after serving as commanding general of U.S. Army Security Assistance Command at Fort Belvoir, Va. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1979, and his first assignment in 1979 was as a supply officer with the 25th Infantry Division. In 2001 he was selected to command the 64th Corps Support Group of the 13th Corps Support Command at III Corps. He was named commanding general of 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) at Fort Hood in Texas in 2005.

The 8th Theater Sustainment Command is the command responsible for logistics in the Pacific Theater, providing food, bullets, maintenance, transport, engineering, personnel and military police support to war fighters from Alaska to South Korea.
