'Dirty Jobs' takes on Oahu tonight
“;Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe,”; the popular Discovery Channel reality show, recently traveled to Oahu to take on a daunting window washing job at the futuristic-looking One Waterfront Towers in Kakaako. The episode debuts at 6 p.m. today on Oceanic Time Warner Cable, with repeat showings at 9 p.m. today, and 5 and 8 p.m. Oct. 20.

”;Paranormal Activity”;: On the strength of limited-release screenings this past weekend that brought in close to $8 million in box-office receipts, and reaching a million votes through Paramount Studios' viral marketing campaign, the rest of the country will get a chance to see this scary flick about a young couple who suspect that their house is haunted by a malevolent entity. They set up video surveillance to capture evidence of what happens at night as they sleep. (R)
”;The Stepfather”;: A remake of the 1987 horror film that launched the career of “;Lost”; star Terry O'Quinn. This time out, “;Gossip Girl”; star Penn Badgley plays a teen who returns from military school to find that a suspicious man (Dylan Walsh) has moved in with his divorced mom (Sela Ward). Is he really the man of her dreams, or could he be hiding a dark side? (PG-13)
”;Where the Wild Things Are”;: Auteur filmmaker Spike Jonze makes his live-action adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic 1963 children's book. Jonze fleshes out the original about a rambunctious boy (Max Records) who sails to an island full of fearsome horned monsters and becomes their even more fearsome king by elaborating on the wild world as well as Max's relationship with his mom (Catherine Keener) and her boyfriend (Mark Ruffalo).
