Hawaiian Airlines is temporarily adding a weekly flight between Honolulu and Pago Pago.

The carrier says it is taking the action to help meet the needs of American Samoans in the aftermath of the deadly Sept. 29 tsunami. The extra round-trip flights have been scheduled for Oct. 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 4.

Hawaiian normally has twice-weekly service between Hawaii and the U.S. territory on Thursdays and Sundays.

The airline says it will continue to assess the situation to determine if there is a need to extend the third weekly flight.
