UH baseball slate announced
Three home series against Pac-10 opponents and a road trip vs. 2009 College World Series participant Cal State Fullerton highlight the University of Hawaii baseball schedule released yesterday by head coach Mike Trapasso.
The Rainbows open with a four-game series vs. Oregon State beginning Feb. 19. UH's first 19 games are at Les Murakami Stadium.
Western Athletic Conference play begins April 9 with a three-game home series against defending league champion Fresno State.
Other nonconference foes include Oregon (Feb. 25-28), The Citadel (March 4-6), USC (March 12-14), Air Force (March 19-22) and Gonzaga (April 2-4).

Another ESPN game for 'Bows
The Hawaii men's basketball team is guaranteed a third nationally televised game during the 2009-10 season, according to an announcement yesterday that the Jan. 30 game at Nevada would be on ESPNU.
Nonconference games against Northern Colorado (College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, Nov. 16) and College of Charleston (Diamond Head Classic first round, Dec. 22) are also on national TV.
Another appearance is possible for UH's ESPN BracketBusters game on Feb. 20.
Lajola falls into consolation
Hawaii's last hope in the D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships was dealt a setback.
Dennis Lajola, ranked No. 43, was banished to the consolation bracket with a loss to No. 37 Jamie Hunt of Georgia, 6-0, 6-3, in Tulsa, Okla., yesterday.
The UH junior is not eliminated and will face Texas' Dmitar Kustrovsky, ranked No. 6, tomorrow at 8 a.m. Hawaii time to try to stay alive.

Mearns carries BYUH to victory
Emily Mearns scored four goals, including a hat trick in the second half, to lead the Brigham Young-Hawaii women's soccer team (6-2, 4-1 PacWest) over Notre Dame de Namur, 5-3, yesterday at Belmont, Calif.
Victoria Colon tied the game up at 3-3 at the 70-minute mark for NDNU (3-7, 3-2), but Mearns scored the game-winner on a header from a corner kick in the 80th minute. She added an insurance score in the waning minutes.
» The BYUH men's soccer team battled NDNU to a 2-2 tie at Belmont. Neither team could land a golden goal in two overtime periods after both teams notched a score in each half of regulation. Sam Akinaka and William Barber had the goals for BYUH (2-6-1, 1-3-1).
» Dominican (Calif.) blanked the Hawaii Pacific University women's team, 6-0, yesterday at San Rafael, Calif., in a nonleague game. Stephanie Malone had two goals for Dominican (4-5-2), as HPU fell to 5-3-1 overall.
» Dixie State shut out the Chaminade men's team, 4-0, yesterday at St. George, Utah. The Red Storm (3-4-1, 1-3) got a hat trick from Jordan Roylance to keep the Silverswords (1-6, 0-4) behind from the 13th minute.
» The Chaminade women were also blanked by Dixie State, 7-0, at St. George. The Red Storm (5-3, 4-0) kept the Silverswords (0-7, 0-4) winless by out-shooting them 40-3.
» Grand Canyon (9-1-1, 6-0) remained unbeaten in the PacWest by knocking off the Hawaii-Hilo men, 3-0, behind a hat trick from Kyle Ciliento. The Vulcans (4-6, 3-1) held GCU scoreless for the first 28 minutes before succumbing.
» The UHH women (3-5-2, 2-1-1) fought GCU (4-5-2, 1-3-2) to a 0-0 draw. Gina Tumasone and Alysia Salvador had the Vulcans' only shots on goal.
