HPU soccer tops Academy of Art

Meghan Fuller scored the game-winner in the 108th minute as Hawaii Pacific beat Academy of Art 1-0 in a PacWest soccer match that went to double overtime in San Francisco.

The visiting HPU men also beat Academy of Art 1-0, as Chance Bukoski scored the only goal.

The Sea Warrior women improved to 5-2-1 and 3-1 in the conference and the Urban Knights dropped to 0-9-2 and 0-4-2.

HPU's men climbed to 6-1 and 3-1 and Academy of Art fell to 4-7-1 and 1-5.

» Andrew Breault scored in the 44th minute as Cal State-Monterey Bay edged Brigham Young-Hawaii 1-0 in a nonconference soccer match at Seaside, Calif.

The Seasiders (2-6) managed just one shot on goal in each half. CSUMB improved to 3-7.

BYUH (1-3 in the PacWest) visits conference foe Notre Dame de Namur tomorrow.

» Kelsey Jenkins scored in the 64th minute as host Seattle-Pacific beat the Brigham Young-Hawaii women 1-0 in a nonconference match. BYUH fell to 5-2. Seattle-Pacific is 11-1.

 

Dixie tops BYUH in volleyball

Katie Luna and Morgan Hill had 11 kills each to lead Dixie State over Brigham Young-Hawaii 25-18, 30-28, 25-20 in a PacWest volleyball match at St. George, Utah.

Dixie State improved to 12-5 and 6-2. BYUH, which was led by 11 kills from Losaline Faka'osi, fell to 7-10 and 4-4.

 

Lajola lone Warrior left

Dennis Lajola is the only Hawaii player left in the D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships at Tulsa, Okla. Lajola, ranked 43rd in the country, is entered in the singles main draw, which begins tomorrow.

In singles qualifiers, Andreas Weber fell to Dino Bilankov of Minnesota 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2, and Leo Rosenberg was beaten by Sebastian Vidal of William & Mary, 6-2, 6-4.

The doubles teams of Lajola and Jeremy Tweedt, Rosenberg and Weber, and Philipp Eberhard and Dmytro Kovalyov were all knocked out of the tournament yesterday.
