Chaminade taps 2 entrepreneurs for program

Greg Kim, partner at Virtual Law Partners LLP, and Russel Cheng, an entrepreneur at Oceanit, have been named the first entrepreneurs-in-residence for Chaminade's Hogan Entrepreneurial Program.

This new initiative is designed “;to bring high-energy and innovative entrepreneurs in contact with students and to provide them with counsel and support in undertaking new ventures,”; said Hogan program director John Webster.

The entrepreneurs-in-residence will maintain scheduled office hours and address all Hogan students at least once per year. They also will be provided office space and the support of a Hogan research assistant while in residence at Chaminade.

Sheraton offers free night at 86 sites

CHICAGO » Sheraton Waikiki and Sheraton Kauai are giving away free rooms as part of a companywide promotion to highlight the chain's $6 billion revitalization efforts.

The deal is available for overnight stays on Oct. 23 and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis through a company Web site. Eighty-six recently renovated Sheratons in the U.S. and Canada—about 40 percent of the brand's North American locations—will participate in the promotion.

Additional nights and services will cost extra, but the offer will cover the cost of taxes, fees and surcharges, said Hoyt Harper, senior vice president of brand management at Sheraton's parent company Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.

About 2,100 rooms will be available to those who register on Sheraton.com/freenight. Guests will be able to book rooms on the site from tomorrow through Friday. Guests who get to the site too late for the free night will be offered a coupon for a room discount.

Hawaiian Telcom warns of long-distance scam

Hawaiian Telcom is urging its customers to be wary of calls from telemarketers who claim to offer long-distance services on the company's behalf.

HawTel said it recently was made aware that solicitors who identify themselves as “;US Telcom”; or “;Global Crossing”; have misrepresented themselves as agents of Hawaiian Telcom authorized to sell long-distance plans on HawTel's behalf.

Callers who receive such a message should report it to HawTel's corporate security department at 643-7111. For added protection, customers can call HawTel's customer contact center at 643-3456 and request a “;PIC freeze.”; PIC, which stands for pre-subscribed interexchange carrier, is the telecommunications industry name for a long-distance carrier.

CB Richard Ellis cracks 'green' rankings

Newsweek has ranked CB Richard Ellis 45th in its 2009 Green Rankings.

The list, featured in the publication's Sept. 28 issue, measures the environmental performance of the 500 largest U.S.-based publicly traded companies. The ranking is based on each company's actual resource use and emission levels, its environmental policies and strategies, and its reputation among its peers.
