Niketown Honolulu ends 11-year run

Niketown Honolulu officially has closed its doors, although it remained open nearly four months longer than originally anticipated.

The departure of Niketown leaves King Kalakaua Plaza in Waikiki empty and devoid of tenants. The 77,483-square-foot plaza at 2080 Kalakaua Ave., meanwhile, is listed on the market for $7 million.

Niketown originally announced in March that it would close in May after an 11-year run in Waikiki. A voice recording said its doors closed yesterday after remaining merchandise sold out.

Jamba Juice adds flatbreads

The 735-unit Jamba Juice smoothie chain has added pizza-like “;California Flatbreads”; to the menu at 32 Hawaii locations. The separately owned and operated location at the University of Hawaii is not included.

The items are under 330 calories and are priced from $3.75 to $4.25. They are available all day and, for a limited time, customers can obtain a $1-off coupon at http://www.jambahawaii.com.

With the menu addition, California-based Jamba Inc. joins Tropical Smoothie Cafe in offering freshly made food items at its full-service retail locations.

TV parent emerges from bankruptcy

KHON-TV parent company New Vision Television has emerged from its 80-day restructuring process.

With corporate offices in Los Angeles and Atlanta, the company owns or provides services to 14 network-affiliated TV stations around the United States.

Gas Co. gets Pearl Harbor contract

The Gas Co. has been awarded a five-year contract for about $4.4 million by the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Pearl Harbor, to supply approximately 450,000 gallons of liquefied petroleum gas per year to multiple military installations throughout Hawaii. The contract begins today.

FISC provides integrated logistics and contracting services to Navy and joint operational units across all warfare enterprises, and base supply functions.

Kiewit begins $12.4M airport project

Kiewit Building Group has begun work on a $12.4 million contract to replace the Central Concourse (overseas terminal) chiller plant at Honolulu Airport. The project, part of the state Department of Transportation's Airports Modernization Plan, follows Kiewit's completion of the Diamond Head Concourse chiller plant replacement in December 2008.

Metlife Bank has announced that Dave Marcouiller has joined as a reverse mortgage consultant for the Honolulu and Maui region. He was previously a vice president and manager of the Business Loan Approval and Portfolio Management Department at Bank of Hawaii for 11 years.
