Man nabbed after car and home break-ins

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for breaking into a vehicle and residence in the Kahala area.

The suspect broke into a parked vehicle at 6:26 p.m. Saturday and damaged the ignition in an attempt to steal it, police said.

The man ran off with a backpack from the vehicle, but was stopped by police. The suspect then fled and forced his way into a residence, before officers apprehended him on a nearby street. It was uncertain if anyone was home at the time.

 

Thrown bottle leads officer to stolen cards

Police arrested a 40-year-old Honolulu man on suspicion he was carrying stolen personal information in Honolulu.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, a police officer saw the man throw a beer bottle onto the roadway that shattered near 1700 Kapiolani Blvd., police said.

The officer asked the man for his ID and he opened a bag and pulled out a clear plastic card holder with the personal cards of a 50-year-old man.

Police booked the man on suspicion of criminal littering and unauthorized possession of personal information.

 

Motorcyclist suffers critical head injury

A 23-year-old Ewa Beach man was in critical condition yesterday after crashing his motorcycle near his home.

At 12:23 p.m., the man was driving a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle south on Papipi Road near Laukona Loop when he locked up his brakes to avoid hitting a car, slid to a stop and hit his head on the ground, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in serious condition but worsened to critical condition, police said.

The driver of the car had stopped at the intersection and was turning left onto Papipi Road.

The motorcycle never hit the car.

Police suspect the motorcyclist was speeding.
