Think you can fly your paper airplane design all the way across the Pacific? You'll get your chance at the annual “;Pearl Harbor Swirls”; fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island.

In addition to a wine-tasting, heavy pupu and a silent auction, attendees can design and fold a paper airplane and toss it for distance across the museum's giant floor map of the Pacific Ocean.

Pearl Harbor Swirls benefits the museum's education program, for local youth; Operation Homefront Hawaii Chapter, for assistance to families of deployed military members; and Assets Schools, which provides highly specialized remediation for dyslexics and acceleration for the gifted.

Pearl Harbor Rotary has also adopted Aiea Elementary and focuses on youths with projects such as Keiki Vision, Read to Me, Dr. Seuss Day, the elementary school's garden club, art projects, and Interact Clubs at Radford, Moanalua, Aiea and Farrington high schools. They also give dictionaries to third-graders at schools from Shafter to Schofield.

Tickets are $85. Premium tickets for a reserved table with premium wines, Eisch wine glasses, table service and a die-cast model airplane start at $150.
