Team Bradley does it again

Team Bradley crossed the channel from Molokai to Oahu in 5 hours, 25 minutes, 16 seconds to win the Na Wahine O Ke Kai race yesterday.

Bradley won for the fifth straight time, but never threatened its record crossing of 5:22:05 set last year.

The Waikiki Beach Boys finished second with a time of 5:26:38. Hui Lanakila was third in 5:31:14.

Outriggers won the all koa division in 6:03:24, while team Wahoo earned the Masters 40-plus title and Kailua Masters took the masters 50 division.

Alapa Hoe spent the most time in the water, needing 7:48:22 to reach Oahu.

Hannemann, Rester win

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. » Former Hawaii player Albert Hannemann and Austin Rester won the U.S. Open of Beach Volleyball yesterday, beating Michael DiPierro and Adam Roberts, 21-17, 21-14.

In the women's final, Kim McGiven and Juliana Evens edged Iwona Lodzik and Sarah Straton 21-13, 21-15.

HPU's Anderson picked week's best

Hawaii Pacific's Dyanne Anderson was named the PacWest soccer player of the week yesterday.

Anderson led the Sea Warriors to two wins last week. She scored five goals in the two games, including one in a 2-1 victory over reigning PacWest champion Brigham Young-Hawaii.

Deavila runs to PacWest honor

Brigham Young-Hawaii's Spencer Deavila is the PacWest men's cross country runner of the week, the conference announced yesterday.

Deavila captured the Chaminade Invitational men's race on Saturday.

» Brigham Young-Hawaii's Lacey (Johnson) Krout is the women's cross country runner of the week. She won the Chaminade Invitational women's race and led the Seasiders to a first-place finish.
