Question: Can I apply sunscreen or insect repellent to my cat or dog?
Answer: Pets are susceptible to skin cancer just as people are. But use only made-for-pet sunscreens and repellents. Ingestion of sunscreen products can result in drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and lethargy. The misuse of insect repellent that contains DEET can lead to neurological problems.
Ask your veterinarian about safe products.
