Man arrested after car is forced off the H-1

A 27-year-old Kailua man was arrested Wednesday night after a woman reported that a male driver forced her vehicle off the H-1 freeway, police said.

The woman, 43, told police that the driver chased her and ran her car off the roadway.

The incident occurred at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday on the freeway in the Kahala area.

Officers found the man near the Hawaii Kai Towne Center at 6600 Kalanianaole Highway, and the woman identified him. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree reckless endangering and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Teenage girls rescued from Manana Falls trail

Firefighters rescued two teenage girls, barefoot and wearing bathing suits, who got lost on the Manana Falls trail yesterday above Pacific Palisades in Pearl City.

The teens began their hike in the morning and did not take any water with them. On their return, the girls did not recognize the trail and called the Fire Department on their cell phones, Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.

They were brought out at 5:30 p.m. by helicopter, he said.

Woman on probation sought on plea violation

Big Island police are looking for a woman who is wanted for violating terms of a deferred plea in an auto theft case.

Police said Natalie Taketa, also known as Natalie Ann Asuncion, is also wanted for violating probation after being convicted of promoting a dangerous drug and illegally possessing a weapon.

Taketa is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Police said she was last known to live in Naalehu.
