Forrester, Malley win UH invite

Hawaii's Jessica Forrester and Hawaii Pacific's Dany Malley took individual honors at the UH Big Wave Invitational cross country race yesterday at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.

Forrester won the women's race in 15 minutes, 5.44 seconds, and along with second-place finisher Ashley Aitken, led the Rainbow Wahine to second place in the team competition.

Brigham Young-Hawaii, led by Lacey Johnson-Krout's fourth-place finish, earned top team honors in the women's race. Hawaii Pacific finished third, followed by Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade.

BYUH, led by Brendan McMaster's second-place finish, captured the men's team title.

HPU's Malley won the men's race in 16:39.22, leading the Sea Warriors to a second-place finish. Hawaii-Hilo took third, followed by Chaminade in fourth.

 

UH season tickets on sale tomorrow

Season tickets for the Hawaii basketball men's and women's seasons go on sale tomorrow.

Fans can purchase season tickets at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, by calling 944-2697 or online at HawaiiAthletics.com.

Men's season-ticket prices range from $59 (for students in the upper level) to $270. Women's prices range from free (students) to $60.

 

McMackin to speak at club meeting

Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin will be the guest speaker at the combined meeting of Na Koa Football Club and Honolulu Quarterback Club tomorrow at the Willows Restaurant.

The meeting runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost for lunch and parking is $15.

 

Bacalso, Powers lose in fourth

Hawaii surfers Kekoa Bacalso and Roy Powers were eliminated from the Hurley Pro at Trestles in San Clemente, Calif., yesterday.

Bacalso lost to nine-time world champion Kelly Slater, while Powers was defeated by Taylor Knox in the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour event.

Australia's Mick Fanning went on to win the contest.

Hawaii-Hilo tops Hawaii Pacific

George Ichamaru, Eduardo Gutierrez and Logan Montenegro scored to lead Hawaii-Hilo to a 3-1 victory over Hawaii Pacific in men's soccer yesterday in Hilo.

Chance Bukoski had the lone goal for the Sea Warriors (3-1, 0-1 Pacific West Conference).

The Vulcans improved to 2-5 overall and 1-0 in the PacWest.

» Alysia Salvador had the game's lone goal as Hawaii-Hilo beat Hawaii Pacific 1-0 in women's soccer yesterday in Hilo.

The Vulcans improved to 1-4-1 overall and 1-0 in the PacWest. The Sea Warriors dropped to 2-1-1 and 0-1.
