Step right up for hot malassadas!
The Hawaii Council on Portuguese Heritage and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts present “;Festa 2009,”; an annual celebration of Portuguese culture.
A variety of local entertainment will be on hand, headlined by notoriously Portuguese comedian Frank De Lima. In addition, a number of food booths will serve up tasty fare, including hot malassadas, Portuguese bean soup, codfish stew and Portuguese sausage hot dogs.
Volunteers will assist with genealogy searches and there will be other cultural displays, as well as prizes.

Hall of famers entertain at Beach Walk
Head to Waikiki Sunday for an afternoon of live music in honor of the 2008 inductees into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame.
Ten new biographical panels will be blessed and unveiled, then two of the inductees will perform at Waikiki Beach Walk's outdoor plaza stage. Noelani Mahoe, Mona Teves and Ethelene Teves (three of the four original members of the Leo Nahenahe Singers) will be joined by Palani Vaughan and Halau Hula Kalehua Tuahine.
A special oli and blessing will also be offered by Halau Mele in honor of the late John Keola Lake, another of last year's 10 inductees.
