Job Quest Job Fair set for next week

More than 110 employers will be exhibiting at the Job Quest Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Neal Blaisdell Center, staged by Success Advertising Hawaii.

Employers range from ABC Stores to Wilson Homecare and represent numerous industries. General admission is $3, but it costs $1 for senior citizens or students or military members with valid identification. Pre-registration is being accepted online at http://www.localjobshi.com.

Turtle Bay development review urged

The public-interest law firm Earthjustice is urging the Hawaii Supreme Court to consider the appeal of community groups seeking a review of the 25-year-old environmental impact statement for proposed development at Turtle Bay.

Earthjustice is representing the Conservation Council of Hawaii, the Surfrider Foundation, Hawaii's Thousand Friends, Life of the Land, Maui Tomorrow Foundation and KAHEA: The Hawaii Environmental Alliance in asking the high court to review an earlier split ruling by the state Intermediate Court of Appeals finding that a review was unnecessary.

Hawaiian, Mesa stocks keep soaring

The stock of Hawaiian Airlines' parent company has risen for the last 11 trading sessions, and shares of go! parent Mesa Air Group have gone up for six consecutive sessions amid economists' predictions that the recession is nearing an end.

Hawaiian Holdings Inc.'s shares closed up 3 cents yesterday at an 11-month high of $8.38.

The stock has nearly quadrupled from its 52-week low of $2.25 on March 5 and is up 16.6 percent during its 11-session streak.

Mesa, meanwhile, which hit an intraday low of 1 cent on Feb. 12 of this year, has continued to climb and gained .004 of a cent yesterday to 31.8 cents. The stock has risen 44.5 percent over its six-day win streak.

Babies R Us holds grand opening

Babies R Us, which marks its grand opening today at 9 a.m. in Pearl City, has donated $5,000 to the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.

Kapiolani said it will outfit its neonatal intensive care unit with privacy screens, which are used at the incubator to provide family privacy as parents bond with their tiny newborn.

The subsidiary of Toys R Us opened the store at the recently completed Pearl City Gateway complex last Saturday.

Pharmacy firm renews Hawaii pact

SXC Health Solutions Corp., which provides technology and pharmacy benefit management services, said it has renewed a multiyear contract — through June 30, 2011 — for its informedRx PBM business with the Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund of Hawaii. Under the agreement, SXC is providing full-service PBM services, including mandatory mail, specialty distribution and patient care clinical programs and Employer Group Waiver Plans for the EUTF Prescription Preferred Provider Organization Drug Plan.

Hawaii Consortium for Integrative Healthcare has hired Rachael Wong as executive director. She previously was executive director of Kokua Mau, the state hospice and palliative care organization.
