She probably won't be a Bamboola one day, but Randall Okimoto is just fine with that.

As of yesterday morning, the Farrington football coach and wife Melanie were at the hospital, awaiting the birth of their first child, Mayah.

“;It's hard to say when,”; Okimoto said. “;They say get adequate sleep. Be organized. I'm trying.”;

The Governors have ridden their defense and a rock-solid ground attack to a 3-0 start (2-0 Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East). Harry Tuimaseve has picked up where Apelu So'oalo left off last season. Tuimaseve has 400 rushing yards at nearly 6 yards per carry, including last week's 131-yard effort against Castle.

“;Apelu had a bit more power. Harry does more slipping and slashing. He makes people miss,”; said Okimoto, a standout running back at Farrington nearly two decades ago.

The Bamboolas, Farrington's hefty blockers up front, have been stung by injury. Joseph Siliga (6-foot-1, 231 pounds), Larry Godinez (6-0, 242) and Justin Momosea (6-1, 235) have held down the fort despite injuries to center Jarome Faamata (5-9, 227) and right guard Lindon Kahana (6-1, 300).

McKinley, which has continued to lack depth in recent years, is next.

Tonight's game at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium could be a surprise if the Govs aren't careful.

The Tigers (1-1, 1-0 Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East) are coming off a big win over Kailua. Receiver Solomon Dixon was double trouble for Kailua's defense, catching a 76-yard touchdown pass and running for a 67-yard score.

The Govs won't have to worry about Okimoto if he isn't at the Ticky by kickoff. They know where he might be.

No. 5 Kamehameha vs. No. 9 Punahou, Aloha Stadium
Nearly one year ago Punahou got back on track with a decisive 28-6 win over Kamehameha. The Buffanblu were rattled by Saint Louis in their previous game, and the win over Kamehameha was step 1 in a comeback trail that led to the state title.

Tonight, Punahou (1-2, 1-0 Interscholastic League of Honolulu) will face a hungry Warriors squad that lost its league opener last week to 'Iolani. Punahou's lineup of first-year starters at the skill positions will be tested by a stingy Kamehameha defense. The good news? Stabren Caires rushed for 90 of Punahou's 139 yards on the ground a year ago.

Bad news? Cayman Shutter and Kimo Makaula (276 combined passing yards) are gone to college.

Kamehameha has a bit of an edge with experience. Ryan Ho played in that game (32 yards rushing) and new starting quarterback T.C. Campbell got some snaps in a reserve role that night.

Word of Life vs. No. 7 'Iolani, Aloha Stadium
The Raiders politely dominated the Firebrands last year with 35-0 and 28-6 victories. Now in its second year at the varsity level, Word of Life (0-1, 0-0 ILH) would like to control the line of scrimmage and keep 'Iolani's no-huddle offense off the field. That's possible with the Firebrands' big, athletic linemen. Whether they can withstand the afternoon heat while playing both offense and defense is a key factor. 'Iolani (3-1, 1-0 ILH) resumed its world-beater ways with last week's last-minute win over Kamehameha.

Damien vs. Pac-Five, Aloha Stadium
The Monarchs have been successful by pounding away on the ground against the Wolfpack in the past. Whether it was Kealoha Pilares or Kama Bailey, they worked the trenches. That will probably be the game plan against a Wolfpack defense that is finding its footing against potent foes. P.J. Minaya, though, has been a highlight-reel maker, with seven touchdown passes against Kaimuki, eight against McKinley, five on Nanakuli and two more against Saint Louis. That's 22 scoring tosses with seven picks, 1,343 yards on 82-for-157 passing for the Hanalani senior.

Kalaheo at Waialua
The Bulldogs (2-2, 2-1 OIA White) haven't forgotten last year's 24-0 loss to the Mustangs. Since losing the season opener at Konawaena last month, they've lost to Kaiser and posted wins over Anuenue and Kalani. This will be their first home game in three weeks.

The Cougars (1-2, 1-1 OIA White) had a bye last week and will be ready for the young Falcons (0-3, 0-2). Josh Gonda is a dual offensive threat for Kaiser.
