Benefit auctions rarities

“;Happy Days”; is the '50s-inspired theme of Child & Family Service's fundraiser taking place Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki.

No doubt many in the audience will be happy to bid on the event's silent auction, which includes two rare items from the private collection of Heide & Cook Executive Vice President and CFO Dexter Kekua and his wife, Elyn.

The couple has donated a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712A watch and Trim Anate Violet Suede Fringe Bag by Hermes.

The Nautilus, a signature Patek design, is considered “;the definition of casual excellence.”; The stainless-steel, waterproof watch is worth close to $40,000.

The Hermes bag is a luxurious remake of the company's Trim bag, introduced in 1958.

It has a retail value of $5,400, but the unused bag is not available anywhere. Hermes has agreed to transfer warranty and ownership to the new owner.

The bag comes with a matching Hermes silver enameled bracelet (value $395) and his and hers cologne ($100 value) donated by Sarah Chen and Hermes of Paris, respectively.

In addition to the silent auction, there will be food and '50s music, with Andy Bumatai and Paula Akana as emcees.

Tickets are $250 per person. Proceeds will benefit C&FS child abuse and domestic violence programs.
