Question: We just adopted an older cat from the Humane Society and never had a cat before. What are some things we can do to ensure it stays young and healthy?

Answer: There are several ways you can add years to your feline's life. First, keep your cat safe and secure in your home at all times. Make sure your cat has a proportional figure with slightly padded ribs and a distinct waist. Kitty treats should account for no more than 10 percent of their diet. Spay or neuter your cat. Ensure regular dental cleaning. Ensure it avoids people food. Visit the veterinarian on a regular basis. Have cat toys and play with your cat regularly, and give it the quality time with you that it deserves.
