Meetings cover fishing rules and proposed changes

State officials are holding two series of meetings about fishing regulations.

The first series is an informational presentation about a commercial fishery data analysis involving parrotfish, or uhu, goatfish, or weke, and jacks, or ulua/papio. The presentations are scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon Thursday in a conference room at the state Department of Land and Natural Resources at 1151 Punchbowl St.

Another presentation is scheduled at 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 at Prince David Kawananakoa Middle School cafeteria at 49 Funchal St. in Honolulu.

The second round of meetings is to focus on a proposal to revise regulations to harvest marine life, including the use of daily bag limits.

The second round takes place at 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at the department's boardroom at 1151 Punchbowl St. Other meetings are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at the boardroom, 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at Benjamin Parker Elementary School cafeteria in Kaneohe and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lanai Public Library.

Public meetings have been held in Hilo, Kona, Maui and Kauai.
