Tuimaseve carries Farrington again

Harry Tuimaseve racked up 131 yards and scored a touchdown on 26 carries to carry Farrington to a 19-8 victory over Castle last night in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference East Division matchup at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium.
Tuimaseve has now rushed for 400 yards on 68 carries through the Governors' first three games—all victories, and his 5.9 yards-per-carry average is a big reason why Farrington is tied for first place in the Red East at the season's one-third mark.
“;It's not me; it's pretty much the offensive linemen,”; Tuimaseve said. “;They block, they did pretty good in the first half and executed well. You've got to want it more than any other team out there, and we have to prove that on the field by working hard.”;
Farrington, ranked fifth in the Star-Bulletin Football Top 10 statewide poll of coaches and media, relied heavily on the run, compiling two consecutive 11-play scoring drives that resulted in touchdown rushes to start the game. Tuimaseve punched in a 4-yard score to put Farrington on the board, and on the ensuing drive, Scotland Smith darted up the gut for a 1-yard touchdown to put the Governors up 13-0 through the first quarter.
Farrington's stifling defense created a score midway through the second quarter as Castle punter Derek Hillegass picked up an errant snap and tried a desperation heave to elude the loss, but the pass fell right into the hands of charging defender Seth Ilae who scampered 30 yards for the touchdown.
The Governors (3-0, 2-0 OIA) took a 19-0 lead at halftime after holding the sixth-ranked Knights (3-1, 1-1) to 34 yards of offense while amassing 226 yards of their own. Tuimaseve led the way for Farrington, as the senior carried the ball 17 times for 110 yards in the first half alone.
“;They just dominated us,”; said Castle coach Nelson Maeda. “;We had great difficulty protecting the quarterback against a very good defensive front. They have good athletes back there, and we just sputtered on offense, and that was mostly due to Farrington's defense.”;
Farrington succeeded in shutting down Castle's main threat, holding senior receiver Shaydon Kehano to 27 yards on three catches. In three prior games, the All-State second-team selection from last season amassed 233 yards on 17 catches and seven touchdowns.
The Governors also harassed Knight's gunslinger Jaymason Lee, sacking the junior seven times, intercepting a pass, and holding him to 124 yards through the air on 11 completions in 27 attempts. Sixty-nine of those yards came on a last-minute touchdown connection with Lowen Rogers against Farrington's reserves.
