The murder trial of Sato Franklin Sigrah is on hold after a state judge found him mentally unfit to stand trial.

Circuit Judge Michael Town made the finding yesterday based on the reports of three court-appointed mental health experts who examined Sigrah. Wilson also ordered Sigrah transferred to the Hawaii State Hospital for treatment from pretrial confinement at Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Sigrah's lawyer, Edward Aquino, asked Wilson to seal the reports. Wilson said he will rule on the request by the end of the week.

Sigrah, 20, is facing a second-degree murder charge, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and a first-degree burglary charge.

Police said he entered an apartment Oct. 11 at 2222 Kapiolani Blvd., fatally stabbed 27-year-old Lyola Mesebeluu with what police believe is a large kitchen knife, injured Mesebeluu's husband, Keith, with the knife and cut the couple's 2-year-old daughter in the arm.

Lyola Mesebeluu died from multiple stab wounds to her chest.

Sigrah's family and friends have said they believe Sigrah did not know the Mesebeluus.

Residents of the apartment complex said they heard someone jiggle the handles of their front doors before the attack.
