Dead woman is identified

The Medical Examiner's Office has identified a woman found unconscious and later pronounced dead in Waianae as 26-year-old Nicole Barrett of Waianae.

Police said Barrett was found unresponsive by her girlfriend in a vacant property at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, and was pronounced dead early Sunday morning.

An autopsy was performed, but the Medical Examiner's Office did not release the cause of death yesterday.

Homicide detectives are investigating, but the case remained classified yesterday as an unattended death.

Police arrested a 27-year-old Pearl Harbor man who allegedly threatened to kill a 29-year-old woman with a knife.

The woman reported she and the man were arguing when the man allegedly pushed her against a wall. He held a knife and threatened to kill her, police said.

The man then allegedly threw her on a couch and allegedly choked her, police said.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and felony abuse of a household member.

The woman sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital for pain to the neck, police said.
