Question: I'm having a baby and are there any tips with introducing a newborn to our family dog?
Answer: If it's possible bring home your baby's blanket in advance so your pet can get acquainted with a new scent. Ensure that any pet training and behavior problems are addressed and that your pet is healthy and spayed or neutered. Upon returning home, have someone else take the baby in to another room while you give your pet a warm but calm welcome. Invite your pet to sit next to you while holding the baby and ensure interactions are positive and supervised. Maintain a regular routine as much as possible to reduce your pet's stress.
