Shop favors glass over plastic
Those intent on saving the planet are realizing the pervasiveness of plastic. Even when it's cast away, it goes into the ground and water, and ultimately comes to rest inside of us, wreaking havoc hormonally and in other ways that may not be revealed for decades.
So what's so great about this picture? Gotcha. The bottle and cups are impostors, made of glass shaped to mimic the ubiquitous shape of plastic bottles and disposable drinking cups.
The refreshing idea is the work of Shop Toast, putting two and two together after spying the clever glass carafes from the Italian design house Seletti, and pairing them with a pair of juice cups for an eco-friendly addition to your dinner table.
The set is $40 at the shop at 3434 Waialae Ave., open noon to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Call 447-9233.
Shop Toast will also be unveiling two new favor lines at the Ward Warehouse at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of The Wedding Cafe's weekly workshop series for brides-to-be, this one focusing on invitations and favors. Reserve at 591-1005.
