Ching, Cyr both ousted
TULSA, Okla.» Alex Ching of Honolulu and Sam Cyr of Makawao failed to make the cut at the U.S. Amateur yesterday at Southern Hills Country Club. Ching shot 10-over 74-76—150 and Cyr was at 83-75—158. The cut was at 147.
Tim Jackson of Germantown, Tenn., led after two rounds at 68-72—140.
Lynch wins at Kapalua
LAHAINA » John Lynch shot a two-round 1-over 147 to win the Kapalua Hall of Fame Championship, which concluded Monday at The Plantation Course.
Lynch, of GolfTEC Hawaii, has now won all four Aloha Section major championships at least once.
He was best among 33 Hawaii pros to take home $2,000 of the combined purse of $14,200.
Defending champion Kevin Carll of Turtle Bay was second, four strokes back.
