Fujikawa misses cut in Europe

Honolulu's Tadd Fujikawa shot consecutive 71s at the European Tour's KLM Open in the Netherlands to miss the cut by two shots. It was his fourth missed cut in a European Tour event in four tries.

His two-day 142 total left him in a tie for 94th, 10 shots off the pace of leaders Darren Clarke (67) and Peter Hedblom (66). Fujikawa got off to a fast start yesterday by birdieing the first two holes en route to a 1-under 35 on the front.

The Moanalua graduate bogeyed the par-4 sixth before reeling off eight straight pars. He carded back-to-back bogeys at Nos. 15 and 16 to finish 1 over for the day.

Chan leads OCC golf tournament

'Iolani's Lorens Chan opened up a seven-stroke lead heading into today's final round of the 46th Oahu Country Club Men's Invitational.

Chan battled gusty winds to shoot a 1-under 70, a round that included two birdies and an eagle-3 on No. 15. He was at 139, followed by Brandan Kop at 146.

Phil Anamizu won the senior title by five strokes with a 36-hole 146. Kauai's George Yamamoto, a former senior champ, was second at 151.

Golfers excel at Hogan Cup

Maui's Justin Keiley took medalist honors as Team Hawaii finished second at the Eddie Hogan Cup last weekend at the Riverside Golf and Country Club.

Keiley finished with a 3-under 141, two shots ahead of teammate Bradley Shigezawa and Canadians Kevin Kwon and Charlie Hughes. Also on Team Hawaii were Brett Komoto of Honolulu and Kapolei's Tommy Yamashita.

Hawaii (433) finished a stroke behind British Columbia (432) in the nine-team international junior competition. The Hogan Cup is an annual 36-hole team match which pits the top teams from the Western U.S. and Canada.

3 named to U.S. boys' youth team

Punahou's Micah Christenson, Taylor Crabb and Joshua Taylor have been named to the 12-player roster of the U.S. boys' youth national volleyball team.

The team will compete in the FIVB Under-19 World Championship Aug. 28 through Sept. 6 in Italy. Christenson, a setter and Crabb, a leftside hitter, play for Outrigger Canoe Club while Taylor, a leftside hitter, plays for Ku'ikahi Volleyball Club
