Just as Statehood will change Hawaii, it also will change the United States.

It will move its borders 2,400 miles southwest.

It will add 585,000 people and 6,435 square miles of land to the Union

It will increase the U.S. Senate to 100 members, while the House rises temporarily to 436 but returns to its legal limit of 435 after the reapportionment following the 1960 census.

Statehood will not, however, bring the U.S. any extra taxes or soldiers. Hawaii already pays its full share of taxes, bears its full load under the draft.
