Hawaiian Airlines has filled more than 100 positions in recent months and will hire 170 more people by early next year, company executives said yesterday.

The new jobs will include 25 pilots and up to 30 flight attendants as part of Hawaiian's expansion when its first A330 joins the fleet next April.

Last year, Hawaiian agreed to acquire six wide-body A330-200 aircraft and six A350XWB-800 aircraft from Airbus. The company later signed lease agreements to acquire another three A330s.

The A330 aircraft will seat 294 passengers and give Hawaiian the ability to fly nonstop to all of North America and points in eastern Asia, the company said.

Recent hires include aircraft mechanics, service representatives, contract agents, maintenance and cleaning personnel, and ramp agents, who handle activities such as towing planes, handling baggage, fueling aircraft and other functions.

“;We're delighted to be doing our part in helping the state's economy by welcoming these new employees and the many more that will be joining us in the months ahead,”; said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO.

Hawaiian has 3,756 employees, of whom more than 90 percent live and work in the state, company officials said.
