No. 5 Farrington 20, Campbell 14

Fifth-ranked Farrington opened its season with a 20-14 victory at Campbell.
The Governors pressured Campbell quarterback Christian Carlos all night, sacking him three times in the first half and preventing the Sabers' potent run-and-shoot attack from getting off the ground for most of the evening.
Farrington's West Coast offense chewed up the clock and prevented the Sabers from getting into an offensive flow. And aside from a first-half interception, the Govs didn't turn over the ball.
“;Not too bad for our first preseason game,”; Farrington coach Randall Okimoto said. “;I think we build on this win, not get overconfident. Just go from there, take it week by week. It's a long season ahead of us. All in all a good team effort — offense, defense and special teams.”;
The Sabers' first chance at a comeback came midway through the fourth quarter, but they turned the ball over on downs at the Govs' 12-yard line with 7 minutes, 40 seconds to play.
They made good on their next chance, though, with a 9-yard strike from Carlos to Christian Abcede-Abregano with 2:03 left to pull within six.
But power running from Farrington's Harry Tuimaseve sealed it. He finished with 172 yards on 25 carries.
Campbell couldn't catch any breaks. When Tuimaseve fumbled at the 1-yard line in the third quarter, senior offensive lineman Joseph Siliga alertly dove on the ball in the end zone for his first career touchdown.
He raised both fists in the air in celebration.
“;Yeah man, I was happy!”; the captain said. “;(Our overall effort) was good; I really appreciate the linemen who stepped up today. It was our backup linemen, I really appreciate that. I think we can do better.”;
The Sabers struck first with an impressive grab-and-run by running back Samson Anguay, one of the state's top sprinters. Anguay took a swing pass from Carlos and bolted through the middle for a 65-yard score on the Sabers' second offensive play.
“;Tonight we were probably a drive short,”; Campbell coach Amosa Amosa said. “;In the third quarter, we only touched the ball once. That didn't help us at all. We knew what Farrington wanted to do — shorten the game, pound it down our throats.”;
Farrington answered with its power running game, and Siaosi Feleunga punched in a 1-yard TD to even things up.
Then, with 1:42 left in the half, the Govs defense held Campbell in its own red zone. Alvin Faamausili took the ensuing punt on a one-hopper at midfield and cut to the right sideline untouched for a 60-yard score to put Farrington up 14-6 at halftime.
