Fraudulent city jobs are posted on Craigslist

The city Department of Human Resources is warning job seekers that fraudulent city job announcements are being posted on the Internet classified site Craigslist.

The jobs are being described as City and County of Honolulu jobs, but the Human Resources Department does not post jobs on Craigslist.

The city has asked Honolulu police to investigate.

The city advises job seekers not to provide information to or respond to any purported city job postings on Craigslist, as that information could be used for identity theft purposes.

City job applications do not ask for Social Security numbers.

For city jobs go to the city's official Web site at www.honolulu.gov/hr or the daily newspapers.

ReStore seeks donations

Habitat for Humanity Leeward Oahu is opening the ReStore in the coming months where donated building materials and home improvement items, new and used, will be available for sale to the public.

The proceeds from the sale will go to expanding Leeward Habitat's program to build more affordable homes for very low-income families.

Donations, made by individuals and companies, are sorted and displayed in the warehouse and sold at 25 to 70 percent off retail prices. Donors include Lowe's, the Home Depot, Cabinet Distributors Inc., Zee Medical Service, Pitney Bowes and Diversified Equipment.

The ReStore also helps recycle and reuse products by diverting tons of usable materials from Oahu's landfills.

Donations can be dropped off by appointment before the grand opening in November. Preview sales will be held Saturdays beginning Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For a map, go to www.leewardhabitat.org or call 696-7882.
