Oregon's Masoli on cover of SI
Last year he started out as a fifth-stringer. He goes into this fall as a magazine cover boy.
Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, a Saint Louis School graduate, appears on the West regional Sports Illustrated cover this week along with Ducks center Jordan Holmes.
The magazine hits newsstands today and is the college preview issue. SI ranks Oregon No. 11.
Masoli started 10 games last year and set an Oregon record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 718.
The transfer from City College of San Francisco led the Ducks to a Holiday Bowl victory over Oklahoma State with 258 yards and one touchdown passing and 106 yards and three TDs rushing to earn offensive MVP honors.
Masoli twice garnered Pac-10 player of the week awards and finished 2008 as the conference's third-most efficient passer.
