Spiritual center observes 20 years

The Counseling and Spiritual Care Center of Hawaii celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday with a luncheon at the Willows.

The center opened in 1989 as the Samaritan Counseling Center of Hawaii. Its mission is “;to provide affordable, professional counseling sensitive to the spiritual tradition of individuals, families and communities in Hawaii,”; a center news release said.

Accredited by the Samaritan Institute and the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the center maintains strong partnerships with a variety of community and religious organizations.

Terry Fisher, a member of the board of directors, said, “;When I think about the hundreds of people who, because of the existence of the center, were able to find support, solace and greater mental health, I am filled with a deep sense of satisfaction and peace.”;
