Question: I recently heard on the news that the state of Hawaii has established pet shelters during disasters. Where are they?
Answer: State Civil Defense, along with DOE and in cooperation with the Hawaii Association of Animal Welfare Agencies, has developed a list of designated pet shelters for use during a disaster. Currently there are 55 pet shelters statewide, and people will need to bring a crate or carrier in order for their pet to be admitted. To learn where your emergency pet shelter is, click here.
