A Palolo man has been charged with four robberies last year in the University of Hawaii area.

Family Court Judge Frances Wong waived jurisdiction over Cameron L. Hilongo on Wednesday, so he will be tried as an adult for the robberies, which occurred between Sept. 9 and 15, 2008.

He allegedly committed the robberies when he was 17 years old. Hilongo turned 18 on Sept. 28.

Hilongo confessed to committing the crimes, according to a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court. He was charged with three counts of first-degree robbery and one count of second-degree robbery. He is being held in lieu of $40,000 bail.

According to court documents, at about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 9, Hilongo stopped a bicyclist near Kanewai Community Park and allegedly pointed a dark-colored semiautomatic handgun at him, demanding money. The robber allegedly took the victim's wallet while another suspect grabbed the bicyclist's backpack, which contained his credit card.

Within 2 1/2 hours the same bandit robbed another male victim near Dole and Alexander streets, according to court documents. At about 12:40 a.m. Sept. 10, the victim was wearing headphones when he saw the man approach. The victim told police it appeared the man was holding a handgun under his sweatshirt when he asked for money. The victim gave him $220.

Five days later a victim told police that at about 9:20 p.m. he had been walking on the sidewalk fronting 2323 Oahu Ave. when a male approached him. The victim was wearing headphones and could not hear the robber. The robber demanded money from the victim and lifted his shirt, allegedly showing the victim an Uzi type of handgun. The victim told Hilongo he did not have any, and the robber allowed the victim to leave after he told him not to call the police.

Fifteen minutes later the same robber came up to a man who was sitting on a bench with a friend at Kanewai Community Park. Court documents stated he brandished the handgun and asked what the two had on them. He threatened that if they lied, they would be “;done for.”; One of the men handed the robber money from his pocket.

In a separate case, Hilongo is scheduled for a jury trial next month for the alleged robbery and kidnapping of a University of Hawaii security guard last October.

At about 3:30 a.m., documents say, Hilongo allegedly grabbed and choked the guard, who had been conducting checks around the National Marine Fisheries Service Building on Dole Street.

Hilongo allegedly took a wallet, two silver rings and a silver bracelet.
