Contributions of Hawaii's kupuna were recognized by the state Executive Office on Aging and Policy Advisory Board for Elderly Affairs.

Honored from each county for dedicated service to their communities were:

Sarah Togashi and Ah Vin “;Jacob”; Zane from the Big Island; Janice Bond and Dr. Arnulfo Diaz from Kauai; June Kaaihue and Larry Carter from Maui; and Michiko Motooka and Charles Clark from Oahu.

“;As we commemorate Hawaii's Golden Jubilee of Statehood, we honor individuals in their golden years,”; said Executive Office on Aging Director Noemi Pendleton.
