A subsidiary of lender iStar Financial of New York, which bought the property through a foreclosure auction in June, selected Aqua to assume management of the resort.

Aqua now has 16 properties on four islands.

Royal Hawaiian offers cheap parking

The Royal Hawaiian Center is offering new parking rates available from now until Jan. 31.

Parking is validated for three hours for diners at the center's restaurants, and two hours for diners at the Paina Lanai Food Court. Customers who shop at the center's stores can get validated parking for $2, and visitors to the Royal Hawaiian Theater and LEVEL 4 can park for a $5 flat rate.

Food and retail parking validations also can be combined, which makes parking available for less than 50 cents an hour. One restaurant and one retail validation, for instance, translates into five hours of parking for $2.
