The Roosevelt High School basketball star who was thrown and killed in a car crash on Sunday had a blood-alcohol content of nearly three times the legal limit, the city medical examiner said yesterday.

Alexis Tatiana Beasley had a blood-alcohol content of 0.227; the legal limit is 0.08. The medical examiner said other toxicology results came out negative.

Beasley, 21, was reportedly in the bed of her friend's Nissan pickup truck when the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier on Moanalua Freeway at 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

According to the medical examiner, she died from head trauma.

Police were looking for a driver who supposedly fled the scene, but are currently investigating the possibility that Beasley was the driver.

“;Based upon the investigation, there was possibly a driver. We're still looking into the possibility that Beasley may have been the driver,”; said HPD spokesman Maj. Clayton Kau. “;Traffic investigators are talking to everybody that has been identified as being with Tatiana at the time.”;

According to Richelle Eusebio, 18, Beasley was at her graduation party on Saturday before the accident.

Another friend, Moana Kamakele, told a reporter that Beasley stopped by her house later for another party and left alone to go get food.

Vanessa Helsham, Beasley's aunt from Aiea, would not comment about her niece's blood-alcohol content.

“;All I can say is that everybody makes mistakes in their lives. Some people pay for it with their lives, some people have a second chance,”; she said. “;I'm very happy no one else was hurt in the accident with her. One life lost is more than enough.”;
