When the University of Hawaii Board of Regents meets Thursday, it will have two new members.

John C. Holzman and James H.Q. Lee are filling the seats vacated by Chairman Allan Landon and Ronald Migita, whose terms expired June 30.

Holzman is a retired Foreign Service officer who has held senior positions in Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East. He is a senior volunteer mediator at the Mediation Center of the Pacific and a University of Hawaii Senior Citizen Visitor Program volunteer.

Holzman earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Lee is a partner in the law firm of Devens Nakano Saito Lee Wong & Ching.

He has served as managing director of Let's Eat Hawaii; owner and operator of Sam Choy's Restaurants in Hawaii, Japan and Guam; and managing director of K.B. Lee Corp., a real estate development company and operator of Hee Hing Restaurant. Lee has a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and a UH law degree.

Six regents who had been serving on an interim basis since January, pending confirmation by the Senate, have also been approved.

They are Mark Fukunaga, chairman and chief executive officer of Servco Pacific; Chuck Gee, retired dean of the UH School of Travel Industry Management; Eric Martinson, managing director of the Tradewind Capital Group; Ramon de la Pena, a retired agronomist and professor at the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources; Michael Dahlig, former student regent; and Grant Teichman, student regent.
