Pending a 15-day clearance period, current Aloha Stadium swap meet manager Centerplate Hawaii is in position to run the meets for the next three years, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Star-Bulletin yesterday.

Centerplate, which has managed the swap meet since 2004, had a lower bid than four other contenders and would have to accept the stadium's new policy of no meets on University of Hawaii football home Saturdays for the 2009 season. (There are six.)

The catering company would not comment via phone or e-mail.

Stadium manager Scott Chan said he could not comment on the bidding until it passed the 15-day period of vendor compliance certification. He did, however, confirm the length of the winning bid at three years with the possibility of two two-year extensions for a seven-year maximum, and that there were five bidders.
